Michael and Lynda Daley would like to welcome you to Drovers Cottage near Bellingham (pronounced Bellinjum) the gateway to Kielder Water and Forest Park. Situated on the edge of the Northumberland National Park. Drovers Cottage graded 4 Star by VisitBritain provides accommodation to an excellent standard and the location means we are surrounded by nature, wildlife, spectacular panoramic views, starry night skys, walking and cycling from the door step.

The cottage also has 1.2 acres of land where guests can graze a horse if they wish to bring them on holiday. Northumberland has wonderful countryside and coastal bridle paths to explore.

Sitting amongst seven others, these individually designed cottages form the prestigious development of Buteland Heights. The renovation of this cluster of stone built properties has been recently completed to a high specification; Drovers Cottage oozes style and charm with its magnificent exposed beams, solid oak flooring in the lounge, a slate floor and granite worktops in the kitchen, and there is a delightful Gin Gan overlooking the garden to the rear, which enhances a bright and airy ambience - a truly relaxing retreat.

Although this is spectacular, rural location, its approached via a quiet section of the A68, therefore giving easy access to explore this particularly beautiful part of the region. The welcoming small town of Bellingham offers many facilities; less than 3 miles away and Otterburn Mill attracts many tourists 8 miles North. The historic market town of Hexham, dominated by its magnificent abbey is only 15 miles away and offers many facilities including a theatre/cinema, indoor swimming pool and is surrounded by several prestigious golf courses.

The National Trust property at Wallington Hall is an interesting visitor attraction close by and trout fly fishing is available at nearby Sweethorpe Lough. Pony Trekking, windsurfing, sailing and ferry trips are only a small selection of the many outdoor activities that can be arranged at Kielder Water - Europe’s largest manmade lake - which is cradled by Kielder Forest Park, less than 20 miles away.

Drovers Cottage (which sits on the Reivers cycle route) is a superb base for ramblers and cyclists who wish to discover the many challenging routes across Northumberland, walks and trails from the door step and for those seeking luxurious accommodation in a tranquil, lovely, peaceful environment.

This is an area with a rich heritage to explore and an excellent base to discover Hadrains Wall, Steeped in history there are 14 major Roman sites, forts and museums and countless milecastles and turrets to explore, as well as many great non-Roman places on offer. Explore the stunning landscape of the World Heritage Site on foot, or cycle, at your own ease. The fantastic atmosphere of the bustling cities, market towns and quaint villages will make this holiday to remember. Indulge in the delightful locally produced food and drink you will inevitably come across and above all else enjoy the fantastic experiences on offer in this unforgettable part of the world.

The cottage is fully equipped and the following list of hidden extras will help with your packing: starter pack of household items, thermos flask and picnic set, picnic rug, information file, tourist leaflets, list of local restaurants and takeaways, assorted guide books, a list of pet friendly places to visit and a variety of board games.
